The Forgotten Settlement of Shippee

Body
Steve Sturtevant Have you ever heard of the settlement of Shippee? This little settlement was located a few miles west of Wilsonville, Nebraska on Highway 89 just into Red Willow County. I stopped to talk to a long time resident of the area named Mr. Ruf to find out the exact location of Shippee. At one time there was an elevator, a stock yard, and a store. The settlement had a post office from 1913 to 1933. I have posted a picture of the site of this little town plus a picture of the railroad that ran by the town. As you can see the fire that devastated the area this past year burned one of the bridges.

Rotary Club's Student of the Fall Quarter

Body
Congratulations to Gentry Warner for being chosen as Cambridge Area Rotary Club’s Student of the Fall Quarter for Arapahoe Schools. We had the pleasure of hearing about how busy Gentry keeps both in and out of school with her many activities. Our members had a very interesting conversation with her regarding her being chosen one of the students to represent the students at the Arapahoe School Board Meetings. Good Luck Gentry with your future!

The Cambridge Museum is working on collecting memories and stories from the 2022 702 Fire. The stories of your experiences will be stored at the Cambridge Museum. A secondary copy hoped to be created and also made available at the Butler Memorial Library. Our future generations will be able to look back on, reflect, and reference when wanting not only to know more about the event itself but also about the people who witnessed and experienced the fire.
