Open Letter to the Public

To the Board of Directors and Executive Staff of Central Nebraska Public Power District: I want to thank you again, for past and present service to South Central Nebraska. I understand these roles are filled with an endless dedication to improving the area and countless hours of thankless work. However, as a young aspiring producer, and an apprentice in learning about community leadership and change, let me share my observations of the Central-Dawson merger process.

FLORENCE UERLING

Florence Elizabeth Uerling, a longtime resident of Indianola, passed away Sunday evening, October 16, 2022 at the Highland Park Retirement Community in McCook. She was 95 years of age. Florence was born on the family farm in Frontier County, Nebraska on September 20, 1927, to Clarence and Esther (Hanthorn) Sughroue. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1945. Florence taught at a country school in Frontier County after graduating from high school. On June 9, 1948, she married Joseph J. “Jerry” Uerling at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola, Nebraska.

Luella Carol Smith, age 90, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the Beaver City Manor. She was born February 20, 1932 to Harry L. and Marie E (Lomax) Martin at the family farm southwest of Beaver City, Nebraska and was the 6th of 9 children.

Funeral Service for LoDema J. Ivey will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Reverend Jan Gluth King and Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Southern Valley ends season with loss to South Loup

BARTLEY - The Southern Valley volleyball team saw its season end Monday at the Subdistrict C2-11 Tournament as the Eagles fell to South Loup, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21. The Eagles had opportunities, particularly in the second set, but the Bobcats had the answers and extended rallied with their defense. Statistical information was not available. Southern Valley finished its season 13-16.
