Alvena Fern Paxton age 97 of Trenton, passed away at her home on January 20, 2023.

Alvena was born on the family farm south of Trenton on December 29, 1925, to LaVern and Grace (Makings) Pennell. She attended and graduated from Trenton High School in 1945. On July 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Gerald Paxton. To this union three children were born: Dennis, Lenard, and Ronda.

Alvena worked the family farm with Gerald.

She drove the tractor, fed cattle, raised the calves, farmed the ground, and harvested the crops. She was a true farm wife.

Alvena was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary. Alvena was a talented baker, making and decorating wedding cakes and dinner rolls.

She enjoyed sewing, oil painting. In 1972, Alvena was hired as the first cook at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton.

She was preceded by her parents; LaVern and Grace; husband: Gerald in 2000; daughter: Ronda Cole; 3 grandsons: infant: Gregory; Michael Casey Cole; Michael Allen Cole.

Alvena is survived by her 2 sons: Dennis and wife Jody Paxton of North Platte; Lenard Paxton of Trenton; grandchildren: Paul Paxton of TX; Chris Paxton of North Platte; Tony (Brenda) Cole of Omaha; sister: Beulah Conzelman of Enumclaw, WA niece: Linda Bredson and nephew: Ricky (Kathy) Conzelman and a host of extended relatives and friends.

The family chose cremation, with a graveside service to be held at a later date. Memorials may be left in Alvena’s name to the Trenton United Methodist Church of Trenton. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
