Barbara Ann Moser Votaw of Lincoln, Nebraska, age 82, passed away on December 23, 2022. Barbara, also known as Barb, was born September 20, 1940 to Martin William and Verna Lucille Moser. She was the youngest of four daughters. She spent her early years near Valley and Mead, Nebraska and graduated from Mead High School in 1958. She attended Luther College in Wahoo and toured the country with the choir.

She finished her teaching degree in business and English at Kearney State College. On the campus in Kearney, Barbara met the love of her life, David Arthur Votaw. In October of 1961, they were wed. Four children were born into their family.

Barbara taught school for eighteen years, mostly English in Holbrook where she directed the school plays and was the speech coach. After her teaching career, she and David owned and operated Flag Valley and Mid-Valley Greenhouses, cherishing the friendships with customers from across South Central Nebraska. Barb’s other business endeavors included making and selling candles, dried flowers, cinnamon rolls, and other baked goods.

Barbara’s life exuded service to others and she lived out her faith showing the love of Jesus daily. She served as secretary of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege. Barb was also a dedicated 4-H leader, member of the A.N.N. Extension Club, Sweet Adelines Chorus, White Cross, Hospice volunteer and more.

Often, Barb was giving meals and gifts to all in need and making thousands of cookies for the church youth group. Barbara was a faithful wife, wonderful mother, and a lovely grandmother.

She and Dave attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Holdrege most of their lives.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, David, her four children and their spouses, Michelle (Michael) Lallement, Troy (Ludmila) Votaw, Dana (Brian) Edgren, and Aundria (Kent) Kirchhoff, grandchildren Jena, Zachariah (Shannon), Luke (Jane), Jacob (Rachel), Markus & Matthew Lallement, Dakota (Taylor), Sierra, Scarlett & Shayenn Votaw, McKayla (Montana) Hines, Jasmine (Allen-Michael) Wilson, Isaac Edgren, Makenna, Kolton & Kalen Kirchhoff, and one great grandson Sawyer Lallement. She is also survived by her brothers- in-law John Votaw and Robert Adams and sisters-in-law Charlene Votaw, Norma Votaw, and Debby Adams as well as several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters and their spouses, Virginia (Roland) Rasmussen, Grace (Clifford) Kriezel, and Sharon (Daniel) Johnson, her brothersin-law Carlos Votaw and Darryl Pickett, and sister-in-law Jeanenne Pickett, niece Donna Stoltenberg and nephew Craig Votaw.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, December 28th with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln, NE 68516.

A Funeral Service will be held (today) at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 29th at Roper & Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive with a luncheon to follow. The burial will follow the meal and will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Morning Side Cemetery in Mead, Nebraska.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30th at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 613 18th Ave, in Holdrege, Nebraska, also with a luncheon to follow.

Memorials can be made to the White Cross or Gideon’s International.
